Seaworld generously gives each military family one free day a year and since we hadn't used ours yet, we visited the theme park last weekend. We were so thankful for the tickets, because without them, I don't know if we would have gone. Seaworld is kind of a rip off. It's one of those places that doesn't let you bring your own food, you have to pay for parking and every other little extra in the park. And if you were a normal tourist, it costs $70 for each child over 3 to get in for the day. $70. I guess they probably need a lot of dough to buy enough to feed those huge orcas.
It was fun to be there when it was decorated for Christmas. We saw a Christmas show and traveled up the observation tower - decorated as the biggest Christmas tree in SD. They have a small Sesame Street area, which seriously made Xavier's year. Every day since he will ask multiple times to see his picture with Elmo. The rides were new and smooth with short lines. We did get a little over ambitious and took Finnian on a rollarcoaster that was perhaps a wee bit too fast for him. But he powered through without a tear and just made sure we understood that he hated the ride when it was over. He really is getting big.
The Shamu show was amazing... as was watching the folks who I guess didn't understand what "soak zone" meant. The time is coming when our kids are going to want to sit in the soak zone too. Guess we'll have to go in the warmer weather when they are a little bit bigger. Or bring ponchos.
