what a weekend

This weekend, our boys did some growing up.

Finnian has slowly been letting go of his monkey, his best best best friend that he's had since he was a baby. Monkey's been a kleenex, pacifier, band-aid, therapist and member of our family. He has a birthday, birthday party and stocking. I'm not kidding.

Last night, Mo and I went out, and when we got home after the boys were asleep, we found monkey abandoned on the kitchen floor, just forgotten there. Finnian went to sleep and didn't even think about monkey. In nights past, Mo and I have both torn apart the house/cars/laundry pile in a desperate search for monkey, while Finnian sobbed in his bed, awaiting his lovee. Finnian's never, ever fallen asleep without his pal. Until last night. I'm so happy for him, and yet, it just breaks my heart.

Isaac, after MONTHS of encouragement, bribing and subliminal messages, finally decided to poop on the potty. If you don't have kids, you're probably rolling your eyes. But let me tell you, this is huge.

And the littlest guy, well, he's been putting up the most stubborn fight against the bottle. He simply refuses, no matter what's inside. In a desperate move, I braved Babys R Us yesterday and bought some gimmicky "first cup for baby's transitioning." Guess what? It works.
The kid just didn't want a fake boob. Good for him! Ha!

In between all those personal achievements, we had a beautiful January weekend - snow and sun. Plenty of time for another snowman, some sledding and snow ball fights.

Have a peaceful week!

  1. I love when kids ween themselves off things! And the poop thing well Ava just pooped for the 1st time on the potty last week! She was in the tub and started screaming her poop is coming! SO I took her out and put her on the potty. She went!!! yay!!! She hasn't done it since but that's ok. She's naturally potty training herself on her own time:) Those pictures are gorgeous! the one of the baby's eyes are so clear. One thing I have the hardest time with is clear pictures.
