picking the perfect tree

We headed to a local tree farm this weekend to pick the perfect Christmas tree.
With saw and cart, we trekked into the pines to choose. As expected, there were differing opinions. Isaac only wanted the smallest ones, that he assumed he could pull from the ground like a carrot.

Finnian said he wanted the pineapple tree, which confused us. Until we saw it.

Unfortunately, it was a little too tall for our raised ranch.
But after much debate, we settled on the tree pictured below,
still growing behind me and my pile of boys.

In about 10 seconds, Mo sawed it and we watched it fall.

I know I am sentimental when I look at a tree stump and can't think of anything but The Giving Tree
Thank you tree!

We loaded up our treasure and brought it home.

The boys added their yearly marks to our tree skirt.

And Finnian promptly built a train track around the outside.

We love our tree! Merry Christmas!
