Fall in New England is beautiful. The weather is perfect and there is just so much to do!
The boys and I scrolled through our photos from the fall to remember all of our favorite moments. Here are the top ten (in no particular order):
1. Parks
We are so lucky to live near some gorgeous parks and we visited them all this fall.
A big hit this year was kite flying.
2. Camping
Whether in the back yard or the state park, camping was king. The boys are already talking about next year and the BIG BIG tent we'll need to accommodate so many boys.
Check out the carcinogens dripping off Finnian's marshmallow.
3. House guests
Truly one of the best parts about a new baby is all of the people that go out of their way to meet the littlest addition. Thank you to everyone who took time out of their busy lives to help us. We loved watching you get to know Xavier. (Sorry for lack of Murphy family pics - will make up for it on Thanksgiving!)
4. Durham Fair
It's a Murphy family fall tradition. We loved the animals, especially the zedonk.
My boys liked the school bus ride from the parking lot best.
5. Mo's races
After LOTS of training, we loved watching daddy run fast.
And win trophies.
6. Xavier's Baptism
Shared with his cousin Oisin. Mo even mastered the art of bow tie tying.
7. Apple picking
My personal favorite! We picked 23 lbs of apples. Finnian washed them all!
We made apple sauce, apple chips and an apple pie. And still managed to have an apple a day with lunch. I'm ready for clementine season.
8. Animals
Visits to the zoo and aquarium, a Scottish Highland games festival (complete with sheep herding and telephone pole throwing) as well as the aforementioned Durham Fair
gave the boys plenty of animal encounters.
9. Trick or treating
Store bought costumes this year. Oh well. We trick or treated downtown with friends and in our hood. Xavier wasn't too happy about being a lion. But we thought he looked great.
10. Murphy family pumpkin carving
A tradition! My boys made a very creative humpty dumpty but faced stiff competition from a zebra, very hungry catepillar and others. We all had such a nice day with the extended family.
Ok, maybe just one more...
11. The first snow!
The first flakes of the year fell just after halloween. Finnian even had a snow day from school. It wasn't enough to make a snowman, but it was enough to have a snow ball fight.
Can't wait for the first big storm.
