Hurricane Irene passed through our area last week, an event very unusual in New England. The general population responded with the same wonder and panic as Southerners do when it snows. Thankfully, the storm didn't cause much damage, but it was very messy near our house with lots of trees and power lines down. We were out of power for one week.
After the bulk of the storm passed, we went down to our beach to check things out. The water level was high, the waves were big and the wind gave us lots of chances to try out new hair-dos.
We have some huge trees around the house. While none of them completely fell, several lost major branches or their tops. These branches below were too big for us to move on our own, with each one the size of a small tree.
It was an interesting week with so many little silly things to write about, but really, I'm just ready to move on with life. I finally feel like the house/yard/our life is getting back to normal. And I appreciate hot water, a dishwasher and a washer so much. I think the boys do too, as their baths are so much more comfortable now.
