a post for proud parents Mo and Kathy

Mo's going to be mortified that I'm posting about this, but I'm the author of this blog so I get to pick and choose what to write about. Hee hee.

A couple of weeks ago, Mo received an award at work. It was from a nomination written by one of the classes and it was presented to him by the Commandant of the Coast Guard. I found out the night before and was secretly invited, with the boys, to the ceremony. Unbelievably, we pulled off the surprise and were there to see Mo get his award (at about 8:30 at night - a miracle that the boys made it!).

After they called his name, we appeared on the side, in view of Mo... and the other 1,000 or so people that were there. I tried to prompt the boys to go give Mo a congratulatory hug, but walking into a room of that many people standing and clapping was a bit overwhelming. They paused, but then, despite the noise, Finnian led the way. (Can you imagine that? He really is growing up.) He and Isaac ran in front of the crowd and cut in front of the Admiral for a hug from their daddy.

Mo was a little embarrassed by the attention, but thankful. (And I think, proud to see his family :) I'm so glad we could be there for him that day. I didn't capture the moment in photos as I was a little busy holding Xavier and covering his ears! But, we finally received some of the Public Affairs photos from the event. Enjoy!

  1. Good things happen to good people. Impressive. And well deserved. And of all his accomplishments, being a good dad, is what I bet he is most proud. Congratulations....
