Hey Big Red Combine

When Mo's crazy work schedule and the boy's school schedule kind of aligned last week, we decided to do what any respectable Southern California family would do: drop everything and go to Disney.

We visited California Adventure, which was my favorite Disney park I've ever been too. It really has rides for all ages, even two-year-olds. And, it was much more interesting to my guys who know a lot more about Monsters Inc and Toy Story than Dumbo and Mr. Toad.

We had a great day.

Most impressive was Cars Land, literally recreated to look just like Radiator Springs. The details were amazing to all of us.

It was a couple days before Finnian's birthday, but one kind employee gave him a birthday button anyway. For the rest of the day, every single cast member wished him well, including a moving, talking Lightning McQueen. To our newly 7-year-old who is quite practical and has never really been interested in meeting characters, that personal greeting blew him away.

Xavy even got to meet his hero, who he greeted with a hug and kiss.

We lasted as long as we could, but after 11 hours and despite adamant protests from the short set, we decided to head home.  Check out those tired mugs:

We found the strength later in the weekend to celebrate Finnian's birthday with bowling and a special cake.

We're so thankful for him.  He's such a thoughtful, kind and funny kid.
What a joy to see him enjoy his birthday so much!
