the end of one great summer

The dogs finally made it to us this week and oh boy, were the boys so excited to see them. They were squealing. Isaac has fed them every meal. And Xavier, well, he simply won't leave them alone but instead showers them with love and kisses all day long. They are doing great with the neighborhood kids and aren't barking too much at the other dogs. I think they might be good Southern California dogs after all. We'll see!

In other news, we've been visiting the zoo regularly and this week, we had a playful mama and baby hippo all to ourselves. Mo and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary with a bike ride and long lunch on Coronado, which was wonderful. After several shopping trips, the boys' school supplies are all packed and ready to go tomorrow. And we went to the beach today for one last summer hurrah before we dive into the routine of school. Finnian is about to lose three teeth, most notably one in front, which prefers to grossly stick out now. I can't even watch him eat. I'm thinking he's going to look like a pirate for his first grade photo in a couple weeks.

Happy Labor Day and happy summer!

  1. So good to see the puppies back where they belong. And the boys so happy to have them. I hope the extra treats made it too. Oh and dont forget, beef broth in the morning, and an egg on Wed, and Sat..... Your ever faithful dog sitter...

  2. I'm so happy you're having a great time and seem to be adjusting perfectly. Emily's teeth fall out the same way. 1st they start to go at a weird creepy angle and gross us all out. And they take forever to fall out! One morning before school one fell out while Em was eating a waffle. She took a bite, pulled the waffle away and there was her tooth sitting on the waffle.
