Though we hated to leave, our pitstop at Grandpa's came to an end. With less than two weeks and 2000 more miles to go, the road beckoned and we had to pack up again. Two of our family members get to enjoy their Tennessee vacation for awhile longer though. We all gave Tully and Otis hugs and kisses to last them until they join us in California at the end of the summer. What lucky dogs! They are so happy here; I think they might like it better than San Diego. We'll see.
We drove through God's country, into Alabama and Mississippi. Past farms and fields, communities that seemed a little more simple and a little more happy.
We saw more of quirky Americana: Helen Keller's birthplace and Fame recording studio, surrounded by chain stores in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
We ended up just south of Memphis, in Mississippi. Another day and two more states.
I have to catch up on my state songs.
