This morning three out of five Murphys participated in the O'Niantic, a running event held in our town. It was a big day for Finnian and Isaac as they've been asking and asking to run in a race just like daddy for awhile now. Since this race included an event for the wee milers, today was the day!
We hung out with some friends before the races began. They were all so proud of their numbers. And so confused as to why the numbers were so big.
Isaac ran in the first race of the day: the 50 yard.
Mo gave him some pointers as they surveyed the course.
See Isaac at the start there?
After the air horn blew and the parents gave their kids a push, it was a dash to the finish line.
Amid the cheering enthusiasm for the first race of the day, Isaac won!
Like all the other short runners, he got a medal and hug at the finish line.
Finnian ran next, in the 1/4 mile. Mo ran with him, which was good since he became a little distracted in the middle. But, he finished strong and checked to make sure I was clapping and watching
as he crossed the finish line.
While Isaac had no clue that he crossed the finish line first, Finnian was a little disappointed that he didn't win his race (we're working on curbing his intense competitiveness).
He still thought that "It was good."
The boys dined on muffins and we watched the other races. Including Daddy's 5K.
Oh yeah, he came in first place in his age group.
His trophy? A beer stein.
Way to go, Murphy boys! Race season has begun.

You know, I just love 3753, 3754 and 375x.
