I'm not into hoarding. If it doesn't have a use, most often it gets tossed or passed on. I realize that it may be a little practical, but I like to keep things simple. Clutter, it makes me crazy.
So I've been thinking about my fabric stash lately and really want to apply the same philosophy to it. I have a couple ideas in the works, but for now, I've decided to tackle sewing projects that will use some of what I already own. Enter the Hide and Seek Spectrum Quilt by Anna Maria Horner.
I fell in love with this pattern and thought it would be perfect for Xavier, who is just getting the humor behind peek-a-boo. I had almost all of the fabrics required on hand. Well, except for the pink, since I rarely need it! It was a good pattern to showcase some old favorites in the windows hidden beneath the flaps on each square. And the hand quilting? It was easy and I really enjoyed it. It looks nice on this quilt and hides much of the puckering that I can't seem to eliminate despite super diligent ironing and measuring! Ugh! Quilters, what is the secret here? I just don't get it!
My biggest buddy helped me choose the fabrics. I stuck with the pattern, except for the flap measurements - I added a 1/2" to each side to ensure the finished flap
completely covered the hiding fabric.
I think Xavier likes it.
Especially the lion.
