Part of the reason we bought the pop-up camper on our cross country trip was to use it once we arrived in California. We intend to thoroughly explore California and Arizona too. This weekend was our first adventure.
We traveled less than an hour to spend the weekend camping at San Onofre beach. We were steps from the beach and it was gorgeous.
Apparently it's a very popular surfing spot and there were surfers everywhere.
Early morning walks.
And discovering a new passion: boogie boarding. We all enjoyed it, but Finnian was obsessed.
Despite getting pulled under a couple of times, he was not scared at all, which for him was huge. This is the kid who screamed about swimming lessons and covered his ears every time a toilet flushed for years. Can you see him in the middle there? He's watching that huge wave crash and looking for the perfect one to ride. No fear in that one.
This guy had a fabulous time too. Thankfully, low tide hit Saturday afternoon, so the waves broke more gradually and with less force. Perfect for the under 40 pound surfers.
It was a great weekend away in a beautiful spot. San Onofre was an instant favorite.
Mo's buddies even flew over. See all those black specks in the ocean? It's an ocean full of surfers.
We are not in Connecticut anymore.

Wow, amazing photos. So nice to read youre getting settled and enjoying some new spots, with many, Many more to come. Glad you all had such a great time. FUN!!
ReplyDeletePS. The pics of "Wrong Shoe" Murphy, were enjoyed as well. Have to love his personality!
ReplyDeleteJust wonderful. You all look so Cali already! And glad to hear that Finnian is being so courageous in the water, and that all the boys enjoyed the beach.
