Xavier is mobile. Mo is working a lot. I don't have 5 extra minutes for anything, so posting photos has been hard. But the good news is my camera is fixed. And, today was opening day. I had to stay awake for just a little bit longer to share these sweet moments with you.
About 500 kids, ages 4-12, in our town play baseball. They all gather on opening day to march out on the big field with their teams. The Detroit Tiger showed up for the festivities. The older kids ran to get autographs, while the kids on Finnian's T-Ball team either hid, cried or stared at him.
For the first time this year, the Mets take the field!
After the ceremony, the Mets got ready for their first game.
Finnian's team was up first and Finnian happened to lead off with a big hit!
Two of his buddies played first and right field on the White Sox. They spent more time on the bases playing with the gear and talking then paying attention to what was going on at home plate.
Finnian played pitcher today, which is funny because it's T-Ball. So, he just hung out on the pitcher's mound and waited for a ball to come his way.
Most often when a ball was hit, every fielder that was paying attention would run toward the ball and jump on it, making a big pile of laughing kids. Then, about seven parents would yell at the runners to advance and the fielders to throw to first. I don't think there was one true out the whole game. Good thing they don't keep score. Every game ends a tie and every kid gets to bat the same number of times.
After four innings, one hour or whenever too many kids start wandering off looking for snacks, the game is called and the kids get their high fives.
Time for one last huddle. I love that number 6!
Go Mets!!
It was a good day.
It was indeed, a Very Good Day!! and it just made mine the same. Thanks, loved it.
